• Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8oz package of sliced FunGuy white button mushrooms
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 Bratwurst sausages
  • 6oz beer
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • ½ cup sauerkraut
  • Shredded cheese

Enjoy some good beer, bratwurst and sauerkraut? Love the idea of a celebration that lasts over two weeks that is dedicated to all that is delicious and Bavarian? Forgot that this year’s Oktoberfest is almost over and there hasn’t been a sip of beer or a bite of sausage in site?

Don’t fret, there’s still time! Both can be had with these loaded brats cooked in beer and then loaded up with onions, peppers, and a whole lot of FunGuy mushroom goodness.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Heat the 2 tablespoons olive oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Add in the onion and sauté 2 minutes. Stir in the FunGuy mushrooms and cook 3-4 minutes or until browned. Toss in the bell pepper and cook another 3-4 minutes or until tender but still bright green. Season with a pinch of salt, cover and turn off the heat.
  2. Heat another skillet over medium high heat and add in the last tablespoon of olive oil. Add in the brats and cook until browned, about 5-6 minutes, turning the sausage often.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and add in the beer. Cover the pan and allow the sausages to simmer about 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through.
  4. Assemble the bratwurst by spreading the mayonnaise on the inside of the buns then place a sausage in each one. Add ketchup, mustard, sauerkraut, the sautéed mushrooms, onions, and peppers on top. Sprinkle with a bit of shredded cheese and serve immediately.

Have a Fun meal!
