  • 2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 8 leaves of lettuce
  • 8 buns
  • Mustard, mayonnaise and ketchup as desired

Getting tired of the sad, dry, overdone summer burgers that make you wish for a hotdog instead? No one likes a hockey puck on a bun so we went ahead and found the perfect burger mix fix, just for you!

Add a bunch of FunGuy mushrooms to that burger blend to help keep those burgers juicy and dripping with flavor. And just to be sure, don’t forget the ultimate burger topping; sautéed onions and even more FunGuy mushrooms!

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Brush off any debris from the whole FunGuy mushrooms with a damp cloth and trim the ends. Place the mushrooms, garlic cloves, and onion into a food processor and pulse until finely chopped. If a food processor is unavailable, just chop them as finely as possible with a good kitchen knife.
  2. Put the mushroom, garlic and onion into a bowl with the ground beef and season with half of the salt and pepper. With your fingers, mix the mushrooms and beef together well until well blended. Divide the mixture into 8 even pieces and roll them into balls with your hands. Press each ball between a couple pieces of parchment paper to flatten them evenly. Be careful not to make them too thin!
  3. With your fingers shape each patty into a round shape, placing them on a large dish and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
  4. Prep the grill by lightly brushing one tablespoon olive oil on the grill and set it to medium high or build a medium sized fire with charcoal.
  5. While the grill warms up make the onions and mushrooms for the top of the burgers.
  6. Heat the rest of the olive oil in a sauté pan over medium high heat. Add the onions and mushrooms to the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once the onions have become translucent, season the mushrooms and onions with the rest of the salt and cook an additional 1-2 minutes. Remove them from the heat and set aside.
  7. Once you’re ready to grill the burgers, lay them out on the grill and cook 3-5 minutes on each side depending on how done you prefer.
  8. A minute before serving place the buns, cut side down, on the grill to toast them before assembling.
  9. To assemble spread mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup on each side of the burger bun and place the beef and mushroom burger on the bottom half then layer tomato, lettuce, and mushrooms and onions on top.
  10. Serve immediately!

Have a Fun meal!
