• 8oz package of whole FunGuy white button mushrooms
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • oil for frying
  • coarse salt

The season of appetizers and one-bite dishes are upon us – one’s that are crispy, crunchy, and beautifully golden! Here’s a recipe you can even get the kids involved with. Just let the little ones do the messy/fun part of coating the mushrooms and leave the frying to the adults.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Prepare FunGuy mushrooms by brushing off any debris with a damp paper towel and trimming the ends of each mushroom. Pat dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
  2. Pour flour into a bowl with salt and black pepper. In a separate bowl, beat eggs. Whisk bread crumbs with garlic powder in another clean bowl.
  3. Roll each mushroom in the flour, then into the egg, and lastly into the bread crumbs, being careful to coat each mushroom. Once coated, place the mushrooms on a large plate and refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  4. Pour oil in a deep frying pan, about 1 inch deep. Heat oil over medium high. Oil is hot enough when a 1 inch cube of bread can fry in 30 seconds.
  5. With tongs, carefully place mushrooms 4-5 at a time into hot oil and allow to fry 3-4 minutes, turning halfway if needed to get all sides golden brown. Transfer cooked mushrooms to a plate lined with paper towels and season with a pinch of coarse salt. Repeat with the rest of the mushrooms.
  6. Allow mushrooms to cool at least 5 minutes before eating. Serve along side your favorite dipping sauce such as honey mustard, ranch or a delicious cocktail sauce!

Have a safe and Fun holiday!
